I responded to an event referral a few weeks ago. It was for a young lady's first communion in the Catholic church. Being raised Baptist and Pentecostal (I call it Bapticostal), I had never set foot in a Catholic church, but I was not disappointed!
It was beautiful! There were at least 20, if not more, children partaking of the communion in remembrance of Jesus Christ! I so enjoyed listening to the choir and seeing the proud looks on the parents' faces as their little ones took a new step in faith. What stands out about this type of communion in particular was the young ladies' white dresses and veils. I wasn't sure of the significance of the apparel, but it reminded me of several verses in the bible. One being Isaiah 62:5 "... and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee."
The family was so friendly and welcoming as I journeyed back over to their house for family portraits. Not to mention the food being so wonderful!
This event combined two of my favorite things about my job: new experiences and really cool people. :)
